The inaugural edition, and what it set out to do.
The Bloomfield Hall Science Olympiad, held on 23-24 January 2026, was the first student-led inter-school and college Science Olympiad organised in Peshawar. It brought together students from schools and colleges across the city to compete in a range of science and technology disciplines.
Open to O Level, A Level, Matric and FSc students, the Olympiad provided a common platform that encouraged academic excellence, collaboration and engagement across multiple educational systems.
The Olympiad was organised by the Bloomfield Hall Science Society in collaboration with the Directorate of Science and Technology, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (DoST), and was primarily funded by DoST as part of its commitment to promoting science, technology and innovation within the province.
As the inaugural event of its kind in Peshawar, it introduced a new platform for inter-school STEM engagement and established a foundation for future city-wide scientific competitions.
The Olympiad was designed to foster scientific curiosity, critical thinking and innovation, while creating opportunities for students from diverse institutions to interact, exchange ideas and build a stronger scientific community.
In support of inclusive participation, students from the Newly Merged Districts were also invited to take part, broadening access to high-quality STEM opportunities for learners from underrepresented regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The successful delivery of the inaugural Olympiad demonstrated the potential for collaborative STEM initiatives within the region, and laid the groundwork for future editions with broader institutional participation and increased student engagement.
Who took part, and what it took to run.
Participation by curriculum. Bringing four separate systems onto one competitive platform was a core aim; future editions aim for a more balanced spread still.

The event began on Friday the 23rd with a formal opening ceremony that set a professional and inspiring tone. Distinguished guests, school leadership and members of the organising council highlighted the importance of scientific thinking, innovation and youth-led initiatives.
With the support of DoST as primary sponsor, the Olympiad stood as a strong example of how institutional backing and student leadership can come together to promote STEM education.
Day one focused on the first round of competitions across biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, robotics, puzzles and surprise rounds. Classrooms, science laboratories and computer labs were all in use, each turning into a centre of focused problem-solving and teamwork.
Participants were tested not only on subject knowledge but on analytical thinking, time management and collaboration. The atmosphere across the campus was competitive yet supportive.
The second day built on that momentum with advanced rounds and increased intensity. Multiple categories ran concurrently, letting the event progress smoothly while staying fair and organised.
Alongside the competitions, the school grounds stayed lively with food and refreshment stalls, giving the Olympiad a welcoming atmosphere for participants, organisers and guests alike.
Students from government schools and the Newly Merged Districts were invited to special academic sessions, taking part in a chemistry crossword activity and a hands-on robotics workshop that let them engage with scientific concepts directly.
Language barriers were addressed through on-site support and translation, ensuring meaningful participation and reinforcing the Olympiad's broader educational impact.
The Olympiad concluded on Saturday evening with a formal dinner, followed by a closing and award ceremony. Winners from each category were recognised for their performance, and appreciation was extended to the volunteers, organisers and sponsors who made the event possible.
More than a competition, the Bloomfield Hall Science Olympiad was a statement of capability and vision. Organised entirely by students, it demonstrated strong leadership, effective planning and a commitment to academic excellence.
By combining rigorous competition, inclusive outreach and professional execution, it laid a foundation for what promises to become a lasting tradition of scientific excellence in Peshawar.
