Ambassadors are the students who carry the Bloomfield Hall Science Society beyond a single campus - running the word in their own school, bringing people to our events, and shaping what the society does next. It is a real role with real responsibility, and it is recognised as one.

A term-long role for students who want more than a membership card. You get the society's material, its workshops and its people behind you; in return you make science happen where you are.

You are the society's named representative at your school - the person people ask about an event, a competition or how to get involved.

Study material, past papers, workshops and a dashboard of your own. You are never asked to build something from nothing.

Certificates for everyone who serves the term, and letters of appreciation, prizes and fee waivers for the ambassadors who stand out.

Responsibilities

What we will actually ask of you. None of it is a full-time job, and all of it fits around school.

Represent the society

Be the point of contact at your school. Answer questions, put people in touch with us, and keep the society's name in front of students who would enjoy it.

Promote events and competitions

Share what is coming up - olympiads, debates, science fairs - through the channels your school actually uses, and help us reach the right people.

Bring participation

Encourage classmates to enter, register and turn up. Sign-ups are the clearest measure of an ambassador's term, and the one prizes are decided on.

Report back

Tell us what worked and what did not. A short check-in each month is enough, and it is what shapes the next round of events.

Hold the standard

Everything you do carries the society's name, so the Code of Conduct applies: be accurate, be courteous, and never speak for us without asking.

Who Can Apply

The programme is open beyond Bloomfield Hall. If you are a student with an interest in science and the time to give it, you are eligible.

What You Get

What an ambassador gets out of the term. Some of it arrives the moment you join; the rest is decided at the end of the term, on what you actually did.

Questions

The ones we are asked most. If yours is not here, write to us and it probably will be.

How much time does it take?
A few hours a month. It goes up around an event and drops to almost nothing between them. Nobody has ever been asked to choose between this and their studies, and if the term gets heavy, tell us - that is what the monthly check-in is for.
Do I have to be a Bloomfield Hall student?
No. The programme is deliberately open to students at any school. Some of what an ambassador does is only possible from outside our campus.
Is it paid?
There is no salary. There are cash prizes and event fee waivers for the best performing ambassadors at the end of the term, and every ambassador who serves the term receives a certificate.
How are the best performing ambassadors chosen?
On what you did: participation you brought in, events you supported, workshops you attended and the quality of your monthly reports. It is judged by the council at the end of the term, and the reasoning is shared with you.
What happens after I apply?
You get a reference number straight away. We read every application; if yours is taken forward, an email arrives with a link to set up your ambassador account and your dashboard opens. If it is not, we will still write - including if you have been placed on the waiting list.
How long does a decision take?
Usually a couple of weeks after the intake closes. The society is run entirely by students between classes, so we would rather be a little slow than send you a decision nobody actually thought about.
Can I apply again if I am not accepted?
Yes, and please do. Intakes are competitive and strong applications go unplaced every round. Once a decision has gone out you are free to apply to the next one.
What is expected of me once I am in?
The five responsibilities above, and the Code of Conduct. Ambassador access can be paused if the role is not being carried out, though we will always talk to you first.
